All done slowly.A K Haarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05897490979828603179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093560390959788459.post-62928691137299188602012-07-15T13:37:49.696+01:002012-07-15T13:37:49.696+01:00I've spent quite a bit of time in hospitals ac...I've spent quite a bit of time in hospitals across the country in recent years, what with inevitable children's accidents, aged mother's ailments as both an in- and out-patient, aged uncle's falls, lengthy rehabilitation and dementia and so on. <br /><br />The one feature the distinguishes the NHS from any other other organisation, whether public or private sector, is the absence of any sort of urgency. <br /><br />A&E work is a rapid ballet of professionals, of course, working brilliantly at speed to save lives. Elsewhere, the staff move as if they are walking through cold treacle. Everything is done at half the speed at which the rest of the country works. It really is a small and self-contained time-warp.<br /><br />On every corner of every corridor, there will be someone hanging about gawping into space, or a couple glumly discussing the weather, television or football. Orderlies move trollies about infuriatingly s-l-o-w-l-y. And so many of them are SO FAT!<br /><br />Although nobody expects to see hospitals operating in a state of continual panic, there is a case to be made for considerably more speed and efficiency.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
