Nobody said being a pirate was easy, but some Somalis may soon come to regret their latest action. The clue was in the name Maersk Alabama. The problem for the hijackers is that the Danish owned ship is in fact operated by US crew, and instead of the selection of Filipinos, Ukrainians and Bangla Deshis they find on most vessels, the Somalis are now holding hostages under the protection of Uncle Sam. Remembering the problems that President Carter had in his dealings with Iran, Mr Obama may just decide that overwhelming force is the best solution.
