Public sector pay laid bare

If you work in the private sector, how much has your pay risen in the last 10 years. The government has already revealed that pay for the top 5% of earners in the public sector has risen by 51% in the past 10 years. Of course that far understates the pay of individuals who will have received promotions in that time.

New research conducted for BBC Panorama has found that there were more than 38,000 public employees earn more than £100,000, more than 9,000 public sector employees are earning a higher wage than the £142,500 paid to the prime minister, and 1,000 people are on more than £200,000.

But the truly staggering figures comes from the number of supposedly impoverished academics who have to scrape by on a six figure salary at these academic institutions:

  • University College London
    312
  • Imperial College
    292
  • University of Oxford
    224
  • Cardiff University
    217
  • Kings College London
    202

Jealous?

What is your problem anyway?

A doctor is worth a hundred parasitical bankers any day of the week.

Typical Tory crap.

What's my problem? We (eventually) have to pay for these people.

The difference between the Conservatives and Labour is that Labour have shown themselves unable to manage and unable to control costs.

A GP in France earns about £50,000. A deput Chief executive of a German local authority would not be paid anything like £100,000.

I am not jealous. I get paid a proportion of the net revenue I produce, but then my business is all fee based. There is no capital at risk and the only cash the bank lays out is the rent for my desk, phone and other overheads. No tax payers will ever be hurt in the pursuit of the Masterley fortune.

Alex, someone pays for the fees drained out of whatever deals you are organising (pardon my not knowing which sectors you work in) it may be shareholders, it may be taxpayers (PFI?) it may be a rich private owner, I don't know.

Therefore, taxpayers, shareholders and customers can all be hurt in the pursuit of your fortune.

Someone is paying those fees Alex.

Not really. Every fee is individually negotiated by someone who decides that they are going to be better off with my services than without, even after the cost. Their call every time. they don't have to use me, but they choose to because it makes their life eaier and may get things to happen that wouldn't happen without my help. Pure added value.
